The Credence Process
Sophisticated Data Reduction
Our advanced data reduction processes dramatically reduces the amount of data to be reviewed.
-
Culling and Search:
Up to 90% of collected electronic content can be non-responsive. Our tightly integrated culling and search activities are critical components of our processing strategy. Culling removes irrelevant system file content programmatically, while searching including keyword and date range queries further reduce the relevant data.
-
De-Duplication:
The next step in our processing workflow is de-duplication to eliminate redundant data, significantly reducing the time and cost burden. We can also apply near-duplication processes which consolidates similar content to the smallest possible set for review. Since 30-50% of email and document repositories represent near-duplicates, their grouping radically optimizes the document review process.
State of the Art Conversion
Once the data set is reduced and processed, the yielding text and metadata can be loaded in a review tool in its native format or be converted to one of several commonly used image formats, such as TIFF of PDF. Credence is experienced in large volume conversions projects. Using our scalable processing model, our processing capabilities allow for conversion of hundreds of thousands of pages per day. We are also experienced in building and manipulating load files used for loading the TIFF and PDF documents into many document management applications. After conversion, each file’s image can be linked to its metadata record, allowing easy review of all material and the ability to identify production sets.
Native Review
The original file format is known as the "native" format. Reviewing collected electronically stored information (ESI) for relevance and privilege in its native format leads to a significant reduction in the number of documents that will need to be converted and produced. Accordingly, once the relevant subset of responsive native documents are identified they can be tagged and converted for production.
Review Tools / Repository Services
Credence is a licensed re-seller and certified trainer of Summation, Concordance and Catalyst the industry leading solutions for successful review, management, production and storage of electronically stored data (ESI). These platforms address electronic data review in a cost effective and efficient manner, which depending on a project’s size and scope can be web-based and include enhanced content analytics and language functions.
Production
Production needs vary, therefore our output is flexible. Production sets can be produced in any combination of the following TIFF, PDF, Native, Paper or all of the above. Production sets may also be Bates numbered and endorsed according to custom specifications.
Backup Tape Discovery
Credence is able to powerfully address clients’ backup tape discovery needs. Utilizing state of the art indexing and extraction technologies, we are able to make backup tapes discoverable without the burdensome expense and time needed for restoration. Our tape and index engine technologies accelerate the extraction of responsive files and email from tape backups. The tape engine automates the full search of content and metadata residing on tape without ever needing to restore the content. The index engine reduces processing time by approximately 80 percent when compared to traditional tape restoration methods. As a result, Credence provides clients with a fast and powerful back up tape solution that will definitely help meet e-discovery timelines and budgets. This advanced solution gives us a competitive advantage in an industry where staying ahead of the curve is essential.
