Protection of Electronically Stored Information

The goal of E-Discovery data collection and forensics is to ensure that Electronically Stored Information (ESI) is protected against destruction or alterations. ESI includes all data contained in electronic format ranging from instant messages, to voice mail, to word processing documents — whether stored on a hard drive, a PDA or a flash drive.

Evidence of destruction or failure to produce ESI during E-Discovery can lead to costly penalties, sanctions and loss of the lawsuit as a whole. A forensically sound image of the original information must be preserved and a duplicate must be created for processing, review and analysis.

Credence provides end-to-end verification and accuracy of the E-Discovery workflow, while maintaining a complete chain of custody across the entire E-Discovery process. Such control provides a completely transparent and defensible in-house E-Discovery solution.

Benefits of Forensically Sound Collection

Preserving potentially relevant data can be a complex process. However, with Credence’s expertise and state of the art technology, we are able to ensure the highest degree of data integrity and auditing throughout the entire E-Discovery. Implementing a forensically sound collection preserves the authenticity of ESI and helps prevents data spoliation and its attendant harsh consequences. It also allows for safe data transfers and the ability to track data and maintain integrity as documents and emails/messages move across stages.

The forensics capabilities of Credence are available for usage in data centers, remote offices, laptops, desktops, file shares, email servers, archives and back-up tapes.

Expert Witness Services

We can provide expert testimony from our forensic computer experts, including former law enforcement and government agency officials. All experts are members of the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE) and hold their Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification.
